According to the Communications and International Affairs Department of the Arak Metropolitan Municipality, Dowlatabadi, Deputy for Infrastructure Affairs and Urban Transportation of the Arak Municipality, while explaining the technical details of the widening and improvement project for Imam Musa Sadr Street, stated: This project was placed on the municipality's technical and executive agenda pursuant to the resolutions of the Provincial Traffic Coordination Council in 1404, with the aim of removing traffic bottlenecks, facilitating driving, and relieving traffic load in the central core of Arak. The execution operations of this project, which began in Farvardin 1405, have been carried out over an area approximately 420 meters long on both the northern and southern sides of this main thoroughfare. Emphasizing a systemic and integrated approach to implementation, Dowlatabadi outlined the project's technical headings as follows: Earthworks and paving In the first stage, the removal of old and unsuitable drainage curbs, the improvement of sidewalk subgrade, and accessibility modifications for people with disabilities and the elderly were carried out. After that, precise sub-base work, base asphalt paving, and full surfacing of the roadway were completed in accordance with modern urban transportation standards to ensure the durability and resistance of the road surface against heavy traffic. Improvement of the surface water network One of the most vital parts of this project is the redesign and implementation of the surface water drainage network with a hundred-year outlook and resistance to severe floods. For this purpose, corrugated polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 800 millimeters have been used, which, due to their high resistance to hydraulic pressures and long lifespan, have been implemented in accordance with the technical standards of the Infrastructure Deputy. Organization of energy and lighting networks With the aim of eliminating visual chaos and enhancing safety, overhead low- and medium-voltage power networks were implemented underground. In this regard, more than 75% (three-quarters) of the worn-out electricity distribution poles were removed, and the installation of decorative and modern lighting poles on both sides of the roadway, while providing standard lighting, has contributed to giving this street a visual identity. The water distribution network in this roadway was also improved. At the end, the Deputy for Infrastructure Affairs and Urban Transportation of the Arak Municipality noted: This project is an example of implementing smart and sustainable infrastructure in Arak. Our goal is not only to solve the traffic burden, but also to create a beautiful, safe environment with infrastructure resilient to natural disasters for the citizens of Arak. With the completion of this phase, it is expected that traffic volume in the city center will be significantly smoothed.
