The meeting to review the registration of Miqan Wetland in the international Ramsar Convention, with the حضور of Abdollahi Far, Deputy for Urban Services, representatives of the Environment Department and the university, was held in the municipality meeting hall.

So far, 5 cities in Iran have joined the international Ramsar Convention, and the city of Arak, despite the potential of Miqan Wetland, is one of the cities that can join this convention, which requires the comprehensive efforts of all agencies.

He said: At the 11th global meeting of the Ramsar Convention, it was decided that, in addition to registering valuable wetlands of global importance, global registration should also be pursued for cities that have constructive interaction with their surrounding wetlands.

Abdollahi Far added regarding the criteria for validating wetland cities: a city can be a candidate wetland city if it shows that urban development does not cause the destruction and disappearance of the wetland, and a city that can take effective measures to protect and restore wetlands, or by implementing urban management plans for development, prevent the destruction and loss of wetlands, can be a candidate wetland city.

He concluded by noting: registering Miqan Wetland in the international Ramsar Convention can bring international credibility, attract tourists, and attract investors for the city of Arak.
